Job Description

Location: Norfolk, VA (with global travel opportunities)
Travel: ~30-40%
Security Clearance: Preferred (or ability to obtain)

Are you a creative, customer-focused Telecommunications Engineer with a passion for solving complex challenges in a fast-paced environment? Do you have experience working across electrical, software, and mechanical engineering disciplines while supporting mission-critical shipboard telecommunications systems? If so, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Do:

Lead & Design: Spearhead the technical design of Avaya Communication Manager (CM) systems for shipboard integrated communication solutions.
Integrate & Innovate: Work with multi-vendor technologies and lead complex system integrations, ensuring seamless interoperability.
Solve & Support: Provide direction and resolution for diverse technical challenges, including:

  • Telephony
  • Messaging
  • Conferencing
  • Networking
    Test & Validate: Oversee environmental testing to meet MIL-Standards for shock, vibration, EMI, temperature, humidity, and airborne noise.
    Deploy & Maintain: Perform on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of shipboard systems-including hardware, software, networking products, and operating systems.
    Document & Optimize: Develop engineering drawings for new and upgraded system designs, ruggedized products, and kits of parts.

What You Bring:

Hands-on experience with servers, switches, and routing
Knowledge or experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Red Hat, VMware, Windows)
Understanding of MIL-standards and shipboard requirements
Strong project management skills-including outsourcing, funding evaluation, and change management
Ability to work in rugged environments (extreme temperatures, lifting up to 100 lbs)
