Qualifications

Job Summary or Scope:

Financial Aid Specialist are responsible for performing regular quality control checks and balances of all Federal Aid, State Financial Aid programs, Institutional scholarships and External scholarships. These include systematic reviews that affect the student's eligibility, reviewing documentation, and awards/disbursements in accordance with university policies and procedures and Federal and State Regulations. Assist management with quality control reports of loans, verifications, and grants working daily reports to verify student's eligibility and packaging is accurate in accordance with Federal/State/Institutional Regulations.

Responsible for the Worldwide Financial Aid Return Mail process, monitoring the imaging return mail and terms and conditions queues, contacting students/counselors regarding their incorrect documentation. Maintain a working knowledge of Federal and State Regulations and ERAU policies/regulations. Support excellence in students' services at every opportunity, support academic quality in our teaching and learning environment, participate as a team member and support our team environment.

Required Education:

  • Associate's degree or completion of program of 18+ months after high school.

Required minimum number of years work related experience:

  • 1-3 years

Primary Job Functions, Duties, or Accountabilities:

  • Review multiple daily Financial Aid reports, including but not limited to Grants, Scholarships, Direct Loans, Private Loans, and Verification reports. Resolve discrepancies related to students' financial aid (verification, grants, loans, scholarships, etc.) within the student system. Notify management of any systematic issues or unusual/unknown errors found.
  • Work across multiple systems to enter accurate financial aid information, providing clear and concise comments regarding students' aid as part of quality control reports.
  • Maintain and update the knowledge base for the operations center regarding Financial Aid procedures and best practices.
  • Assist in determining students' initial and renewal eligibility for state assistance programs by applying criteria set forth by the offering agent.
  • Help create and update training materials for the operations center and counselors as needed.
  • Stay current with all Federal, State, and Institutional Regulations, as well as related office policies and procedures, ensuring compliance in daily operations.
  • Assist with the quality control (QC) process for the receipt of funds to students' accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper allocation.
  • Review documents in the imaging system, update checklists, and add comments to students' accounts to ensure proper documentation.
  • Support the QC of student documentation in the imaging system to verify eligibility.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive student information, maintaining privacy and compliance with relevant policies.
