THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for an experienced compiler engineer who is passionate about improving the performance of key compiler technologies. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.

They will be part of a compiler team responsible for developing end-to-end software and hardware stack that our customers use to implement ML models and applications on current and next-generation NPU (XDNA) architectures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and optimize the compilation pipeline for AMD NPU architecture.
  • Implement compiler-based optimization techniques to improve the performance of AI Models on NPU
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and innovations in software, hardware, algorithms, and architecture.
  • Debug and resolve existing issues while exploring alternative, more efficient solutions. Develop technical relationships with peers and partners

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong track-record in compiler engineering, experience working with MLIR/LLVM.
  • Expertise with IR development, frontend transformations, and code generation in production level code.
  • Strong object-oriented programming background, C++ and Python preferred
  • Expertise with AI accelerators or GPU programming and performance tuning, familiar with framework such as ONNX/Triton/CUDA/OpenCL is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of Software Engineering principles, data structures, design patterns and algorithms
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating system development
  • Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
