Job Description

Job Summary/Objective:

The Metallurgy Lab Part Time Clerk will be responsible for conducting materials testing and sample preparation. Their assignments will be broad in nature and require considerable judgment, ingenuity, and a focus on safety.

Key Responsibilities

* Business support: conduct testing to industry standards as part of technical requests from external and internal customers

* Sample preparation (metallography) of metals and other materials including the use of power saws

* Operate research and analytical equipment in a laboratory environment

* Help maintain a safe and orderly workspace as part of the lab's 5S program

Education, Experience, and Skills:

Required

Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's

Specialized Degree: Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or equivalent

Years of Experience: Any

Field of Expertise: Materials Science/Metallurgy Preferred

Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's

Specialized Degree: Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics

Years of Experience: 1-3

Preferred Field of Expertise:

Non-ferrous Metallurgy, Electrical Industry

Other Preferred Skills, Licenses, & Certificates:
* Must be able to clearly communicate both orally and in written form to the team
* Must have a strong attention to detail
* Ability to manage multiple projects with differing priorities
* Hands on experience in a laboratory environment is a plus
* Must have strong analytical and time management skills
* Must possess strong interpersonal skills
* Must have excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
