The Rheinbay lab at the MGH Center for Cancer Research is looking for a bioinformatics analyst to study genomics and epigenomics different cancer types. The general focus of the lab is the study of non-coding driver mutations and the role of the X and Y chromosome in cancer.
The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team working on rigorous analysis of next generation sequencing data (DNA, RNA, chromatin, single-cells) from tumor and normal samples. The ideal candidate has a strong background in computation, actively seeks out solutions to challenges and enjoys working in small teams. Responsibilities: -Apply existing and novel algorithms to breast cancer data sets, critically review and analyze results -Design and develop analysis approaches and workflows and novel software tools for large data sets from different sources -Present results effectively to clinicians, experimental and computational scientists https://www.massgeneral.org/cancer-center/clinical-trials-and-research/center-for-cancer-research/investigators/rheinbay-lab Education Master's Degree Computational Biology preferred or Bachelor's Degree Computational Biology required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes Experience Computational Sciences Experience 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated experience in infrastructure, programming languages and computational sciences. Demonstrated ability working with open-source bioinformatics software. Possess strong analytical skills including critical thinking, data modeling, problem solving and troubleshooting. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to all levels of staff. Excellent time management skills.
