Basic Function
The purpose of this position is to advance and uphold site security, safety, and emergency response duties as required to protect facility personnel and assets. The Lead Security Technician acts as the senior shift security representative and oversees security operations while working a rotating day and night shift schedule. The position is also responsible for responding to security threats, call-outs and plant emergencies, as required.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Performing security duties to include protecting company assets and responding to security threats. Responds to security and other related plant emergencies to include fires, spills, gas release, rescue, and medical emergencies.
- Performing duties as per Facility Site Security Procedures and Facility Security Plan (FSP).
- Enforcement of security processes and procedures to include facility entry requirements, ensuring the facility remains in compliance with the Channelview site Facility Security Plan.
- Patrolling site facilities to include company buildings, perimeter fence lines, in-plant and public roadways, and outlying greenbelt properties as assigned.
- Advanced use of computers to prepare and complete reports, perform data entry, and operate access control and security systems.
- Responsible for physical security perimeter equipment, inspection, and coordinates maintenance and repair services. (i.e., gates, gate arms, fencing, signage).
- Responsible for supporting the CVO UAS Drone Program, and coordinating maintenance and repair services.
- Responsible for maintaining the lock and key management system.
- Responsible for overview of Communication Center operations which include monitoring and operating dispatch, communication, emergency notification, security monitoring, and fire/hazard systems as assigned.
- Provides support and conducts high level security investigations, follow-up services, and completes incident reports.
- Assists in training and education of security representatives.
- Recognizing, reporting, and taking actions to mitigate unsafe conditions.
- Works effectively with a broad range of work groups, includingemployees, contractors, visitors, vendors, delivery drivers, familymembers, members of the local community, local and federal law enforcement, and plant leadership.
- Security loss prevention and safety performance.
- Accurate and proper communications for routine and emergency situations.
- Security personnel performance during routine and emergency operations
- Regulatory compliance with internal and agency audits and inspections.
- Coordination of security on shift to include providing leadership, coaching and development of less experienced personnel. Maintains advanced knowledge of specific technical and regulatory requirements providing innovative ideas and highly specialized information to positively affect security performance.
- Member of the Security Emergency Operations Center Team.
Min. Qualifications
- Work Experience:
- Must have four (4) to five (5) years professional experience of which three (3) years must be in law enforcement, security, or emergency response.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
- Ability to obtain and maintain additional Department of Homeland Security or other regulatory required qualifications, certifications, security clearances or licenses, as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain UAS Remote Pilot certification.
- Lenel OnGuard Access Controls Systems User Administrator training or certification.
- Facility Security Officer (FSO) training that meets the requirements of 33 CFR, Part 105.
- Locksmith training, certification or experience.
- Knowledge and experience with Emerge/eNotify Emergency Notification Platform.
- Familiarity with Coast Guard Regulations in regard to chemical plants.

Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) or more years of security supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in the following software applications is preferred:
