The Weld Program Instructor / Welder shall provide technical guidance and expertise in the field of welding while following procedural requirements and standards of client contract specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide technical guidance for the preparation of students to meet and comply with NAVSEA and GDEB welding standards and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance including, but not limited to, GMAW Pulse and GMAW Spray weld processes, metal grinding processes and Oxy-fuel torch use.
  • Provide technical guidance on weld preparation to meet various NDT (non-destructive testing) processes.
  • Maintain safe working/training conditions of both Thielsch and GDEB company standards.
  • Maintain a curriculum in compliance with the GDEB Pipeline Training Program.
  • Follow pre-established and approved course curriculum which includes classroom and practical training.
  • Review, grade, and return assignments.
  • Maintain excellent record keeping and documentation for both Thielsch and GDEB.
  • Prepare students to take welding qualification tests for GDEB.
  • Procure welding supplies and materials for the training program.
  • Demonstrate strong time-management skills and adaptability.
  • Work both independently and within a team setting.
  • Resolve conflict when possible and administer disciplinary measures when suitable.
  • Develop professional relationships with GDEB staff and HR business partners.
  • Maintain safe workplace habits and housekeeping to maintain a safe environment for both students and staff.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Initiate new ideas for the department.
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Practical work experience
  • Prior welding experience for General Dynamics Electric Boat
