Description

The Department of Chemistry at Smith College invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral teaching fellowship to begin July 1, 2025. Under the supervision of Professor Lesley-Ann Giddings, this postdoctoral fellowship offers a combined teaching and research position at a selective liberal arts college. The successful candidate will conduct independent research on characterizing extremophilic microbial natural products and their biosynthetic enzymes. Candidates with experience in enzymology, natural product (bio)synthesis, and/or X-ray crystallography are encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities for this position will include teaching two courses a year in the chemistry departmentr, including the department's offerings at the introductory level and the intermediate/advanced level depending on the specific expertise of the candidate. Other courses may be taught depending upon the candidate's field of specialization. A Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field is required, and candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand or all requirements for the degree fulfilled by the start of the appointment.
