The hiring range for this role is:

$25.00 - $25.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the hiring range and this hiring range may also be modified in the future. A candidate's position within the hiring range may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.This job is also eligible for annual bonus incentive pay.

Job Description Summary

An Internship with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) allows you to be part of the foundation that supports Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies nationwide. This internship is located in Chicago, IL or Washington D.C. This is a hybrid position with 3-4 days in-office.

As an intern, you will work with the Blue365 program to join our dynamic team and gain invaluable hands-on experience in digital marketing. This internship offers a unique opportunity to manage a start-to-finish project, providing practical application of digital marketing knowledge, skills, and abilities. This intern will have the chance to interact directly with BCBS Plans, contributing to positive business outcomes for the program by enhancing its website presence and marketing asset library.

Specifically, this internship will include a 10 week project to refresh marketing assets, enhance website appeal, and complete a portfolio analysis to identify potential gaps or opportunities for the program.

Responsibiltiies include but are not limited to:

  • Hands on experience with developing marketing materials including flyers, website imagery and copy, and digital advertising assets

  • Gain experience working directly with 24 BCBS Plans and the Federal Employee Program

  • Develop health and wellness copywriting expertise, and working within the BCBS brand guidelines

  • Collaborate with the team to develop portfolio analysis in order to identify gaps and potential new partners to introduce to the program

  • Ensure complete confidentiality of company business.

  • Keep management informed about developments within areas of responsibility and handle special projects as needed.

  • Create a final PowerPoint presentation to share with department leadership, summarizing the internship experience, the assigned project, results, and any recommendations for future use.

  • Adhere to HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies, and other relevant corporate and departmental policies.

Required Education, Experience and Certification

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or Economics

  • Graduation date between December 2025 - June 2026

  • A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Availability to work ten weeks during the summer

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong aptitude for written and verbal communication, with a preference towards digital/online mediums

  • An understanding and passion for data analysis

  • Familiarity with digital marketing and the healthcare industry

  • Familiarity with content creation and copywriting (flyers, digital ads, web pages) is a plus

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Self-starter with good time management skills

  • Proactive and eager to learn

  • Strong computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint preferred.
