Join us as our new Research Associate Are you ready for a role that lets you use both your scientific and communication skills in a highly collaborative environment? As a Research Associate you will be responsible for performing laboratory experiments to demonstrate the performance of probiotic bacteria in consumer food products and customer manufacturing processes. Your experimentation, sample analyses, and communication of the results from these experiments will ultimately lead to innovative products and solutions launched in the marketplace. This is a fast paced, dynamic environment, and the type of experiments will shift based on demand. Responsibilities will include but aren't limited to validating survival of probiotics in beverages and foods, improving methods for incorporation and recovery of probiotics, and evaluating sanitization protocol efficacy. Welcome to Food & Beverage Biosolutions Technical Service You will be part of a dynamic team of scientists and research associates with diverse backgrounds, developing technical service guidance for Functional Foods & Beverages customers. This role supports the North American team. In this role you will make an impact by: * Supporting the implementation of probiotic technology in customer's products and processes by running enumeration and shelf-life stability studies. * Independently carrying out laboratory work to support customer projects and basic research * Driving improvements to laboratory workflows and processes to increase efficiency and data quality * Ensuring traceability through strong documentation in internal lab notebook platform and knowledge of GLP's and cGMP's. * Maintaining a safe and functional laboratory space To succeed you must have: * BS or MS degree in scientific discipline such as Biology, Microbiology, or Biotechnology * cGMP and GLP experience * Extensive probiotic bacterial identification, culturing and enumeration experience with foods and beverages * Environmental monitoring and sanitization program development experience * Ability to independently plan and execute routine and non-routine laboratory experiments * Continuous improvement mindset for optimizing and developing laboratory methods and workflows * Demonstrated success with attention to detail and time management * Experience with lab inventory and ordering/receiving supplies relevant to enumeration studies. * Initiative for completing tasks with a positive attitude and a sense of urgency * A desire to learn and develop new skills with a proactive approach * Strong laboratory techniques and knowledge; able to create SOP's with minimal guidance * Ability to interpret and summarize data, troubleshoot when necessary. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work in the United States currently and in the future without sponsorship Location: This job will be located at our Durham, NC location.
