Position Description

Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Ensures all activities related to communication skills program including coordinating simulated clients, facilitators, lab instructions, laboratories, prop animals are maintained and organized as well as prepares supporting reports (compiling and analyzing program statistics);
  • Coordinates research, outreach and overall program activities, including Seminar Series, Symposiums, and conferences as well as assists with graduate students, and all communication program initiatives as assigned;
  • Participates and contributes to the event management of communication facilitation workshops. Ensures lab schedules are adhered to, greeting, and directing coaches, students, and simulated clients to appropriate rooms, answering any queries from coaches, students or SCs and directing those queries to lab lead or instructor of Record (IOR) as required. This includes creating day schedules for labs, printing and organizing cases, student groups, facilitators, and simulated clients. This position also plans the operational aspects and supports the delivery of the Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCE);
  • Reserves rooms for lectures and labs, sets up online ZOOM sessions, submits appropriate IT and AV requests as needed for all years as necessary. Builds and maintains courses including assembling of binders, organization of content, tracking of assignments etc. directed by communication faculty;
  • Builds and maintains communication courses in BlackBoard/Canvas as well as responsible for all aspects surrounding the effective use of Elevate Health Care (CAE) during teaching and assessment;
  • Maintain program, student, and faculty informational databases and files including a current and accurate database of Simulated Clients to facilitate effective program delivery and scheduling. Including hours worked and assisting with time sheet management. Oversee SC orientation to university policies and practices as well as integration to the faculty, including training SC on electronic timesheet submission and other processes as needed;
  • Keeps inventory of communication props and all communication equipment;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Independent judgment, strong organization and communication skills and a superior customer service focus.
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple projects and meeting external, hard deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a diverse community including students, faculty, administrators.
  • Superb organization and communication skills.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in higher education program management.
  • Experience using simulation software for training or education.
  • Ability to plan and lead workshops or training sessions using simulation tools.
