Job description

This role will be a Director supporting the Vice President of McKesson Technology Portfolio Finance. This is a key leadership position serving as a business partner to various Service leaders within McKesson Technology and finance leaders within McKesson's business units. Under limited oversight from the Vice President of McKesson Technology Portfolio Finance, the Director will lead a team of two to three individual contributors and oversee opex and capex forecasting and budgeting activities as well as lead the value capture, realization, and reporting activities for a large portfolio of projects. To be successful in this role, the Director must develop the team's talent, drive continuous process improvement and change management, and foster strong partnerships across McKesson Technology and business unit finance organizations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for a large portfolio of technology initiatives
  • Conduct, review and/or otherwise support financial analysis and business case development activities in connection with technology investments
  • Prepare executive presentation materials for a variety of purposes including monthly and quarterly business reviews, and annual budget reviews, among others; present detailed financial reports to senior leadership, highlighting key insights and recommendations
  • Collaborate with IT leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial goals with technology projects and initiatives; Identify financial risks related to technology projects and develop mitigation strategies
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior IT leaders, providing financial insights and guidance, and build strong relationships across McKesson Technology and/or certain McKesson business units and closely partner with stakeholders to communicate and track expected benefits
  • Develop and drive adherence to best practices for finance processes and reporting, including uniform standards across project portfolios
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
  • Assist with development of various tools, including financial models, value scorecards, and KPI reporting, among others

Qualifications and critical skills

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, economics or other business field; MBA preferred
  • 12+ years relevant experience in finance/accounting, preferably in technology finance for a large corporate entity, including 4+ years leading and developing high performing teams
  • Advanced Excel skills including proficiency with financial modeling
  • Proficiency with PowerBI or other visualization tools preferred
  • Experience with SAP and BPC
  • Proactive and passionate about business results and quality, with a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and ownership
  • Ability to effectively communicate, influence and build strong relationships with senior and executive leaders
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to act without having the whole picture, using sound judgment and strong decision-making skills; ability to quickly grasp technology-related value drivers
  • Proven experience building and maintaining complex financial models
  • Strong organization and time management skills; able to successfully manage competing priorities
  • Strong critical thinking and decision making skills and ability to navigate through complex issues, interpret and transform financial data into recommendations to senior leadership

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$130,000 - $216,600
