Purpose

To plan, coordinate, and execute recruitment and yield events within the Cockrell School of Engineering, while assisting with first-year programs, including orientation and First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs). Ensuring the priorities of the Cockrell School are incorporated into all aspects of the position including student-centeredness while showcasing a genuine respect for different student experiences and perspectives.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, in collaboration with others, a strategic plan for undergraduate student recruiting and yield initiatives.

  • Implement the annual campaign for prospective and admitted students, across printed, published and presentation mediums.

  • Liaison with the undergraduate Office of Admissions to coordinate and plan events and programs.

  • Coordinate and present at prospective and admitted student events, including developing event agendas, securing other presenters and volunteers, reserving locations, ordering supplies, and communicating with prospective students and families in collaboration with the Office of Admissions, engineering departments, and programs.

  • Collect, analyze, and manage data on recruiting and admissions. Prepare and present reports from this data.

  • Meet with prospective students and families as required.

  • Participate in travel as required, in tandem with recruitment and yield efforts through the Office of Admissions.

  • Coordinate engineering student ambassadors, including selection and direction of students in coordination with other student programs.

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of and participate in New Student Orientation for the Cockrell School of Engineering, including managing student schedules, presentations, and orientation advising.

  • Participate in student division meetings and functions, such as Commencement, Honors Day, Family Weekend, etc.

  • Facilitate at least one first-year interest group (FIG).

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and three years' experience coordinating programs or projects in areas relating to student recruiting or student success.

  • Commitment to working with and supporting prospective students and their families while engaging with students, faculty, and staff from various backgrounds.

  • Experience planning large-scale events.

  • Experience working with software for databases, spreadsheets, presentations and/or desktop publishing.

  • Strong, dynamic written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Ability to interact with students, parents, university administrators, corporate leaders, alumni, and associations.

  • Able to work independently and in teams with overlapping projects.

  • Familiarity with video and web conferencing software such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

  • Able to travel and to work occasional weekends and evenings.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, liberal arts, or communications.

  • Experience planning and administering pre-college or college outreach or recruitment programs.

  • Experience working with high school or college-aged students.

  • Experience in accounting, budgeting and fundraising.

  • Experience supervising students, staff and/or volunteers.

  • Able to work in a multi-faceted environment with tightly scheduled programs and deadlines.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with Slate and/or EAB Navigate360.

  • Appreciation for and knowledge of engineering /STEM education and familiarity with the University of Texas at Austin and the Cockrell School of Engineering.

Salary Range

52,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.

  • Work outside of regular business hours is required on an occasional basis, including evenings and weekends.

  • Travel may be required on a periodic basis.

Work Shift
  • Standard work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • Flexible schedule and/orhybrid teleworkmay be allowed.

  • Periodic work outside of normal business hours, to include evenings and weekends, may be required on an occasional basis.
