Job Summary The MCCCD Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Principal System & Application Administrator to manage our Google Workspace environment. This key role is responsible for the administration, configuration, and operational/user support of Google Workspace, including its productivity, email, and collaboration applications. Responsibilities include user and group provisioning, user support, license management, troubleshooting email delivery and features, addressing spam and phishing issues, monitoring & reporting, and creating documentation for system configuration and support procedures. This position requires deep technical expertise in administering and configuring enterprise-level communication and collaboration services at scale. Essential Functions 30% - Serves as subject matter expert for MCCCD's Google Workspace environment and email services; regularly manages large and highly complex projects for this environment; manages user & group accounts and related policies, provisioning, storage & quotas, domains, licenses, app configurations, security policies, privileged access roles, Vault retention, email routing, compliance, spam & phishing, security policies, organizational units, integrations (OAuth, SAML, Admin API), email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) billing & renewals, and Chromebooks/devices. 30% - Provides user support for escalated tickets and complex and/or sensitive issues referred by key stakeholders including Executive Leadership, Information Technology, Information Security, Customer Care, Faculty, Human Resources, General Counsel, Marketing, and MCCCD Police. 20% - Provides security management including monitoring, auditing, and responding to spam and phishing threats; composes, reviews and finalizes original comprehensive and complex reports and documents. 10% - Drafts and maintains original documentation of system configuration, support procedures, and user-focused support articles; enhances documentation for first tier support technicians. 10% - Analyzes the product roadmap of Google Workspace and MCCCD business needs to plan implementation of changes for services and policies; collaborates with stakeholders to develop timelines, communication plans, testing, and change management; performs related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field with seven (7) years of full time equivalent system and application administration experience in enterprise-level productivity & email suites. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications 1. Experience as the global administrator of Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 productivity & email suites in a large/medium enterprise setting 2. Experience managing the security and privacy concerns and policies of enterprise email and software services 3. Experience using command line tools such as GAM and scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell to automate administrative tasks, generate reports, and improve efficiency 4. Experience delivering customer support using a Help Desk ticketing system 5. Experience analyzing and troubleshooting email domain and authentication protocols, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX, and SMTP message headers 6. Experience writing and maintaining documentation of enterprise systems 7. Experience using service API's of Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 to integrate with other systems and develop custom solutions Special Working Conditions There is a mandatory minimum of in-office expectation, currently 2 days per week, in which the district reserves the right to update at any time. The selected candidate will need to reside in the Phoenix area or relocate within six months of hire. MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas. This role may involve after hours work and non-regular business hours. May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.
