What You'll Do

The Production Front Line Supervisor plans, schedules, and directly supervises the work of hourly personnel assigned as their work crew.

Specific responsibilities include the following:



  • Achieving established goals for production quantities, product quality, personnel safety, procedural adherence, and security protocol adherence within their assigned area of responsibility
  • Setting performance expectations and monitoring productivity of employees assigned to their work area
  • Maintaining the training and qualifications of assigned workers and matches tasks with employee skill and experience
  • Ensuring that work assignments are in accordance with union contracts and craft jurisdictions
  • Maintaining safe work conditions and proactively preventing injuries, contaminations, or other hazardous exposures to the workforce
  • Executing work within required cost and schedule agreements
  • Obtaining work start authorization for daily operations to ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Ensuring material accountability is maintained and security protocols followed



The Position is accountable to the:



  • Production Support Manager for the production division deliverables and employee safety
  • Operations Manager for adherence to requirements that define and maintain a safe and secure work environment for manufacturing operations utilizing trained and qualified workers
  • Assigned crews for training, coordination, involvement, issue resolution, and communication, including resolution of personnel and/or equipment issues



Authorities include:



  • Authorized to manage the production craft workers to support mission deliverables
  • Authorized to resolve cost, schedule, or resource conflicts regarding mission deliverables within their span of control
  • Authorized to represent the Production Division in interactions with labor relations personnel
  • Authorized to represent workers in development of procedures and operating protocols that directly affect the work conditions and job performance

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree: Minimum5 years of relevant experience
  • Thirteen (13)or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
  • In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)
  • Shift work is a possibility for this position and employee must be able to work inside a beryllium area

Preferred Job Requirements

  • An understanding of authorization basis structure and a strong working knowledge of fissile material handling (and/or processing), weapon quality requirements, procedures, equipment, and safety awareness
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of functions (e.g., operations, maintenance, technical, and craft personnel) are required as the candidate must understand and administer the bargaining unit contract
  • Working knowledge of SAP ME is desired

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
