Position Overview:

This position oversees daily production duties, including supervising and training Visual Production Coordinators (VPCs) on four production printers, managing their weekly workloads, and handling large format printing and maintenance. Responsibilities also include flatbed printing, maintaining and producing poster work on the Epson printer, vehicle and wall wrap installations, cut lettering installations, and color calibrations on printers. The role requires maintaining software and hardware upgrades, tracking consumable inventories, conducting site surveys for vinyl and acrylic installations, performing moderate graphic design work, and handling customer inquiries regarding wide format and signage production. The position also supports customers in building print files.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and supervise VPCs on large format printing, flatbed printing, laser cutting, engraving, and vinyl installations.
  • Perform repairs on four printers that can be handled in-house and coordinate with vendors for equipment service and repair calls.
  • Make quick decisions related to wide format production and troubleshoot print file issues with customers.
  • Order consumables for production needs and collaborate with Facilities for on-campus vinyl and acrylic installations.
  • Meet with customers to discuss new projects, plan out solutions, and ensure the best fiscal outcomes for the customer.
  • Supervise the weekly production of large format work, including poster printing, yard signs, acrylic printing, foam board printing, vinyl wraps (vehicles, walls, windows), cling materials, large paper prints, and ground graphic materials.
  • Conduct equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and some parts replacement for printers and production tools.
  • Perform color profiling and calibration on machines to ensure accurate color output.
  • Install vehicle wraps, wall wraps, window wraps, cut lettering, and acrylic lettering. Perform site surveys for upcoming projects.
  • Serve as backup to the Print Studio Manager in their absence.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or completion of an 18+ month program post-high school in Graphic Arts, Large Format Printing, Digital Printing, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of work-related experience in Creative/Marketing with large format or digital printing.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite programs, ripping software, flatbed and roll-fed printers, printable substrates, color theory, and sheet layout for production.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for print file issues and printer problems, as well as maintenance skills for flatbed and roll-fed printers.
  • Ability to train staff on equipment, laser cutting techniques, and vinyl installation.
  • Familiarity with color calibration and adjustments on printing machines.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Facilities, vendors) to ensure efficient production and installations.
