Field Engineering Specialist II

FedEx Freight, Inc. in Irving, Texas has the following opening for a Field Engineering Specialist II

Summary of Duties: Analyze operational data and methods. Identify performance improvement opportunities and implement technology systems that meet business objectives. Provide field operations with analysis, reporting tools, and support and justify operational costs. Analyze data obtained through multiple sources including data mining tools and statistical analysis tools. Research, analyze and consider technical or engineering related information and present for management review. Develop, evaluate, document and improve productivity, service and cost performance in all operations areas in conjunction management. Collaborate with all levels of field leadership to identify trends in performance. Provide data and technical expertise relating to facility and equipment planning, layout and cost justification by establishing communication between operations and corporate departments. Develop and implement corporate projects. Provide education and support for new technology deployments. Travel required 50% of time.

Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Transportation or related field and 3 years of experience. Experience can be gained prior to or concurrent with attainment of Bachelor's degree. Must have experience in each of the following skills: Applied Engineering Concepts and Technology including experience in developing macros and applications for data cleaning, data migration, and ad hoc reporting and documentation; Data analysis and conveyance capabilities within programs such as Microsoft Excel, Spotfire, Power BI, or other statistical analysis and presentation tools; Data mining capabilities/coding within programming such as Crystal Reports, SAS, SQL or exporting from existing web-based structures such as Spotfire, Power BI, or other statistical analysis tools; Application of project management fundamentals and concepts for multiple concurrent projects including development of progress reports, meeting minutes, field communication memos and presentations for management and stakeholder review for said concurrent projects; and Development, evaluation and documentation skills as applied to improvement to operations methods, work area design, process flow and work methods.
