Terros Health is hiring a MOUD/MAT Medical Director to join our medical team at Maverick House in west Phoenix.

Full-time; Monday-Friday

PMHNP or FNP

Excellent Salary: $185K-$200K (Depending on Years of Experience)

$3K Starting Bonus (New Hires Only)

AZ License & Active DEA

Position is 50% Clinical/ 50% Administrative

3+ Years' Experience; 1+ Years Experience in a Leadership/Managerial Position Preferred

Experience working with MOUD services and SUD treatment required.

Expertise in low barrier MOUD and experienced in harm reduction.




  • The MOUD/MAT Medical Director is a senior leadership role which serves a critical purpose, aligning MOUD Medical Providers with Terros Health's mission and core values, while ensuring best practices in low barrier MOUD and harm reduction.
  • This individual will oversee MOUD programs ensuring we are providing exceptional patient care.
  • Utilizing a high level of expertise, knowledge and experience, performs professional work by providing low barrier MOUD and other MAT services and oversight to a population composed of persons with substance use disorders, SMI, general mental health, dual-diagnoses and/or referred persons.
  • Provides clinical leadership in the supervision of medical providers and medical staff;
  • Participates in clinical strategic planning initiatives and ongoing activities;
  • Responsible for prescribing and monitoring of medications;
  • Provides direct MOUD services;
  • Participates in coordination of care with behavioral health and physical health medical providers;
  • Collaborates as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;
  • Providing training related to MOUD, MAT, mental health, medical conditions, preventive health and medications to Terros Health employees.
  • Consults on crisis management and other clinical matters as needed;
  • Participates in managing the utilization of services to minimize preventable inpatient and emergency department admissions for both behavioral and physical health.
  • Completes initial assessments, medical history, differential diagnosis, treatment rationale and progress towards treatment goals, utilizing a biopsychosocial approach, orders follow-up blood levels and other lab tests according to standard medical practice and other required medical records, progress notes documentation within the same calendar day of service
  • Provides pharmacological treatment and appropriate follow-up of patient's symptoms and response to medications, including side effects based on best practices. Completes medication education, pharmacy prior authorizations, and informed consent
  • Responsible for the oversight of medical staff in prescribing and monitoring of medications following Terros Health's policies and procedures, including participation in performance reviews, peer reviews, and corrective action plans as required on a timely basis. Reviews and provides counsel as needed to psychiatric medical staff to include consultation, staffing and second opinions. Provides direct supervision to MOUD programs and medical staff to include performance management, production monitoring, clinical oversight and resource planning
  • Participates in development of the strategic plan for MOUD/MAT and whole health services including outcomes analysis, practice protocols, quality of care, employee development and population management

Qualifications

Licensed and board certified in family medicine or psychiatry, may be a PMHNP or FNP

3+ years' experience preferred; 1+ years in a Leadership/Managerial position preferred

Experience working with MOUD services and SUD treatment. Expertise in low barrier MOUD and experienced in harm reduction. Prior supervisory experience required

Interpersonal skills which allow for professional and positive relationships with co-workers, patients, families, and other community members. Good communication skills, evidenced by a non-judgmental approach, effective listening, and positive interactions. Strong understanding of recovery principles

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, electronic medical records, and NextGen preferred

Active AZ medical License in good standing. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry. Valid/current DEA and CSPMP registration

Must have valid Arizona driver's license, be 21 years of age with minimum 3 years' driving experience and meet requirements of Terros Health's driving policy.

Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or apply for an Arizona fingerprint clearance card (Level 1) within 20 working days of assuming role

Must pass a TB test and Drug Screen
