Position Highlights

The Sonoran Center for Excellence in Disabilities at the University of Arizona is seeking a creative and dynamic Communications & Marketing Program Manager to lead our multi-media marketing, communication, and dissemination activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing a communication agenda for the Sonoran Center that is branded, strategic, and engaging for university personnel, faculty, students, partners, community stakeholders, and the public. Additional responsibilities include researching, writing, designing, and publishing material and sharing through on-line and written products, an inviting and informative website, social media platforms and in-person events, public media channels, and ensuring knowledge translation through universally-designed, user-friendly, accessible formats. The successful candidate will supervise a small team of staff and student workers and establish policies and guidance for all Sonoran Center personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, and administer strategic, branded, and multi-faceted comprehensive communication approach that align with the UCEDD mission and goals.
  • Inform and establish policies regarding organizational communication.
  • Establish strategic branding guidelines in line with industry standards, ADA accessibility guidelines and University branding requirements.
  • Create marketing strategies for specific program roll outs and promote accordingly.
  • Oversee the creation of engaging marketing content to include print, social media and website hits.
  • Coordinate internal and external communications to ensure all stakeholders and informed and engaged.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans.
  • Provide recommendations to UCEDD directors and managers on communication effectiveness.
  • Oversee production of both internal and external communications for students, faculty and staff; the public, disability community, and state and national audiences through a variety of formats including on-line and written products, website and social media, public media channels, events, reports, and other resources.
  • Implement accessibility features (video subtitles, alternative text, website structure, document tagging, etc.) to ensure accessibility standards are met and use universally designed formats for accessibility by people with physical, cognitive, communication, and sensory disabilities.
  • Function as liaison with the department, college, school, and university to stay up-to-date on current university procedures, ensure compliance with university policies and communication protocols, and keep others informed of Sonoran Center contributions and innovations.
  • Define and track key performance indicators to measure marketing impact for all avenues of marketing.
  • Oversee public relations efforts as appropriate for all UCEDD events and programs.
  • Participate on the Executive Director's leadership team and contribute to enhancing operations, promoting growth and leveraging of external dollars/donations, formulating responses to emerging issues and needs, and contributing to problem-solving and creative solutions.
  • Build, supervise and train a small team of staff and students.

  • Strong technical skills, including full proficiency with standard computer systems (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability in establishing an inclusive workplace.
  • Ability to delegate, collaborate, and provide strategic decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with disability accessibility standards.
