Job Posting Title: Postdoctoral Fellow Seismic Rock Physics---- Hiring Department: John A and Katherine G Jackson School of Geosciences---- Position Open To: All Applicants---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40---- FLSA Status: Exempt---- Earliest Start Date: Mar 10, 2025---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Mar 09, 2026---- Location: PICKLE RESEARCH CAMPUS---- Job Details: General Notes This position is primarily located at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus in North Austin. The employee will have to regularly commute to the Jackson School of Geosciences building in downtown Austin for some laboratory experiments. Purpose As a part of an interdisciplinary, integrated research project, the candidate will contribute to time-lapse seismic and rock physics modeling and perform sand tank laboratory experiments for monitoring fluid movement in the subsurface (brine, CO2, H2, etc.) and leakage. Responsibilities
Ph.D. in geophysics, rock physics, petrophysics, geology or related field. Strong understanding and implementation of seismic and rock physics modeling and laboratory experiments. Experience in seismic data processing and inversion. Ability to develop codes in MATLAB/Python/Julia, or other similar platforms. Excellent data management skills. Demonstrated report writing and publication skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and professional demeanor. Ability to work both independently and effectively in a large group. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines and experts, including geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, and reservoir engineers. Ph.D. must have been received within three years from date of hire. Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience in 4D seismic data processing and laboratory experiments. Relevant peer-reviewed publications and expanded abstracts presented at SEG, EAGE, AGU, SPWLA, or similar conferences. Experience in writing professional-level programing codes as well as working with industry-standard software. Salary Range$65,000 - $70,000 Working Conditions
