Vice President, Strategic Alliances Reporting to the SVP, Strategic Alliances ("SVP"), the Vice President, Strategic Alliances will serve as a member of the global Strategic Alliances leadership team. This role is accountable for Element's U.S. & Canadian ("US/CA") sourcing / supply chain management strategy, translating this into a 3-year plan and establishing annual priorities. Key accountabilities include strategic direction and leadership of Element's US/CA supply chain policies, processes and practices, leveraging our $10+ billion annual spend to create economic value for our clients and shareholders, maintaining breadth and quality in our supplier network to ensure timely, consistent and cost-effective access to fuel, parts and services, and evolving our procurement model to more sustainable sourcing and even greater supplier diversity. Candidates with strong relevant experience based in Owings Mills, Mississauga or Toronto are welcome to apply Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Strategic Direction, Plan and Execution:
- Lead the adoption of a cohesive global sourcing and supply chain management strategy in the US/CA in collaboration with global peers and key executive team members.
- Influence strategic nature of sourcing and procurement - direct and indirect spend - to generate value for Element while at the same time driving better, more efficient ways of work.
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders (VPs and Directors) across Operations, Commercial and support functions to elevate the strategic nature of our direct spend - working locally, nationally and internationally both within Element and with global partners (including but not limited to Arval) to strengthen existing business models while creating new ones that further leverage our position in the marketplace as well as support future strategy and trends.
- Instill knowledge and experience leading new or evolving practices to achieve future outcomes such as sustainable sourcing, supplier diversity etc.
- Function as a change agent, leaning on experience and learnings from having successfully led similar functions; proactively engage, actively listen and communicate consistently and effectively to bring people along the change journey.
Functional Expertise and Discipline:
- Formulate assessment of Element's US/CA supply chain function (processes, people, systems globally) to enable Element's global Strategic Alliances strategy and the US/CA three-year plan; assess risks and identify opportunities.
- Gather facts and develop insights, testing and adapting with SVP and key partners (Finance, HR etc.) to create a plan inclusive of operating model, functional disciplines and practices, analytics, organization and talent.
- Upgrade competitive intelligence (discipline, knowledge, networks) to regularly assess Element's current and future suppliers, products, and services - and the performance of same.
- Develop, evaluate and report on KPIs in collaboration with Strategic Advisory Services (SAS) and its data / analytics team.
- Analyze, monitor and mitigate so that we are proactive in our planning and management of vehicle parts supply to ensure smooth integration with various operations teams.
- Instill best practices in key disciplines such as contract negotiations, SLA management and issue resolution, with greater use of digitized communications.
Budget and Accountability: Key accountabilities include strategic direction and leadership of Element's US/CA supply chain policies, processes and practices, leveraging our multi-billion annual spend to create economic value for our clients and shareholders, maintaining breadth and quality in our supplier network to ensure timely, consistent and cost-effective access to fuel, parts and services, and evolving our procurement model to more sustainable sourcing and even greater supplier diversity. Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- 15+ years related leadership experience including 7+ years in leadership role with significant supply chain/sourcing business impact.
- Prior experience leading teams to improve processes related to the supply chain operations across multiple countries. Service supply chain experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels and departments effectively on a formal, informal, written and verbal basis.
- Strategic change agent with track-record of transforming supply chain planning organizations through people, process, and technology in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience building and measuring a diverse supply chain with proper accreditation/certification.
- Experience and skill in negotiating with diverse vendors, contractors, and others.
- Familiarity with performance improvement processes and change management concepts as it pertains to managing partners/suppliers.
- Strong business skills, including executive presentation skills and business financial acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across businesses and supplier partners creating differentiating offerings.
- Experience with partners/suppliers in digitizing supply chains with improvements in client service, efficiency/scaling, productivity and profitability.
- Re-examine all policies, processes, and systems to find the right solution for coordinating aligning globally.
- Build a best in class/sophisticated procurement framework to extract maximum value for Element but also demonstrate similar capabilities in maximizing value from suppliers.

The hiring base salary range for this position is $220,000 - $240,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual's knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.
