Job Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) Medical Director, this position functions in a supervisory position overseeing the medical assistants (MA). This supervisor will provide oversight of compliance to department standards, policies, procedures, objectives quality improvement program, safety and environmental and infection control standards. They will be responsible for evaluation of MA performance and develop MA schedules in collaboration with the Medical Director and Medical Staff Supervisor. The MA supervisor will work collaboratively with the Medical Director and Medical Staff Supervisor to ensure delivery of quality patient care. They will be responsible for directing patient care flow. They will actively engage in problem solving and conflict resolution to maintain team cohesiveness and positive patient relations and customer satisfaction. In addition they will participate in quality improvement projects as needed in SHC

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

* Certified Medical Assistant in California or able to obtain certification within six months of hire.
* Current CPR certification.
* Bachelor's degree in related fields such as Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Public Health and or equivalent experience/training.
* Experience in Primary Care, Acute Care or Emergency Department setting.
* Experience in a supervisory capacity. Experience working with and supervising diverse staff using interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility.
* Experience working in a union environment.
* Experience with electronic practice management system and electronic medical records.
* Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work independently and make clinical decisions within the scope of MA practice.

Preferred Qualifications

* BLS certification.
* Experience working with adolescent, young adult or college health population.

Department Overview

Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, acute care, laboratory, pharmacy, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. SHCS has approximately 200 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents.

Work Environment
