This position is a 3rd shift position working overnight with a varying schedule based on business needs. The Distribution Operations Manager is responsible for managing distribution area activities as required to distribute and ship products within quality, cost and service objectives in a distribution environment. The Distribution Operations Manager drives strategic lean initiatives to improve overall performance of their area. The Distribution Operations Manager is responsible for order distribution processes which may include warehouse, stock, order processing, zone maintenance, corrugate, clerical and shipping. The Distribution Operations Manager promotes and implements strategic direction, champions significant changes in processes and participates in implementing various cost-effective productivity methods to positively impact the Hallmark business. The Distribution Operations Manager maintains strong relationships with plant management, key business partners and others who may affect productivity within their area. The Distribution Operations Manager must be adept at managing broad processes and be highly effective at leading problem solving. Possesses technical expertise and leadership for the implementation of innovative processes with a special emphasis/proficiency on the LEAN tools and innovation in distribution processes. The Distribution Operations Manager possesses knowledge in warehousing systems, receiving operations, C-TPAT procedures, shipping, preselects, clerical, and order processing. The Distribution Operations Manager takes the initiative to mentor new supervisors and staff in his/her area. They take the lead and coach regarding improvement activities, Kaizen events, and other problem-solving opportunities including safety initiatives. Essential Duties and Accountabilities
- Provides leadership and direction for all shift employees with particular attention to supervisors and leads. Coordinates workflow and the most efficient use of personnel between departments and facilities.
- Ensure assigned work is processed in efficient and safe manner and deliver superior customer service. Promote positive employee relations and serve as a resource to personnel addressing questions and concerns in a timely manner.
- Seek to meet or exceed departmental objectives through continual review and monitoring of both individual and group results. Provide feedback, written and verbal, that accurately reflects the performance of the individual employee and encourages they achieve their fullest potential. Maintain and verify accurate performance records on personnel under immediate supervision.
- To keep costs within budget and through innovation reduce costs to keep our service competitively priced. Undertakes special projects and studies to enhance departmental operations.
- Assure compliance with company policies and actively support the practice of the Liberty Distribution Center's Values.
- Develop strong understanding of internal work process and seek opportunities for improvement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (required for candidates to be considered):
- Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of people management either exempt or non-exempt
- 4 years of operations leadership experience, with emphasis in logistics, material handling and order fulfillment
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (optimal education and work experience):
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or production operations
- Experience in managing in a manufacturing, distribution or warehouse environment.
- Very good employee relations experience
- Recognized expertise and is a resource for training/advising others on function. Knowledge of quality and scheduling systems.
- A high degree of proficiency in the following competencies: Action-Oriented, Instills Trust, Customer focus, Manages Complexity, Interpersonal Savvy, Drive Results, communicates effectively, Collaborates, Ensures Accountability, Plans and Aligns, and Manages Conflict.
- Project management experience
- Familiarity with principles of LEAN
