Director, Consumer, Account Leader

Golin Chicago is looking for an experienced Director, Consumer, Account Leader, or a Catalyst, to join a dynamic team supporting two major client accounts.

Riding the wave of recognition and award-winning work, the Director, Catalyst has an incredible opportunity to have a seat at the table with two of our clients, shaping the strategy with senior leadership, driving integrated campaigns across influencer and traditional media channels that promote and protect the brand, and contributing to account growth.

You will work with an integrated group of specialists to deliver strategic, creative, and relevant communications solutions across influencer, media relations, and experiential work to address our client's key business challenges. You will oversee communications between internal teams and clients to drive brand awareness, working with a collaborative team that rolls up their sleeves at all levels to produce great work.

What You'll Do:




  • Lead Day-to-Day Account Management: Oversee daily account operations for two major client accounts at Golin Chicago, managing strategic communications, client relations, and program execution across different client programs.


  • Drive Strategic Account Direction:Partner with account leadership to develop and implement effective Comms strategies that deliver measurable results.


  • Provide Team Leadership:Supervise and mentor junior staff while fostering a collaborative team environment across both account teams.


  • Build Client Relationships:Cultivate strong client partnerships through consistent communication, proactive problem-solving, and exceptional service.


  • Manage Financial Oversight:Handle budgeting responsibilities and financial oversight to ensure projects remain aligned with business objectives.


  • Streamline Project Management:Efficiently track requests, coordinate research, compile reports, manage timelines, and mobilize team resources to meet deadlines and exceed client expectations.


  • Bridge Communication Gaps:Serve as the critical link between senior leadership and support teams to maintain efficient workflows and clear communication channels.


  • Support Large Scale Integrated PR Campaigns: Contribute expertise to multi-channel campaigns including earned media relations, and owned, paid, and influencer partnerships that complement broader client goals. Participate in Integrated Account Team (IAT) planning efforts, ensuring PR and earned plays a significant role in all campaigns.


  • Foster Growth: Alongside account leadership, identify proactive opportunities to grow the account by blending agency innovations with client needs.




Who You Are:



  • You have 7+ years of experience in a PR agency or related communications environment, with a solid background in both creative and operational leadership.
  • You are known for delivering high-impact work in fast-paced, high-pressure settings and turning around underperforming teams.
  • You are proactive, detail-oriented, and excel in account and project management while producing client-ready research and reports.
  • You are innovative and quick on your feet, developing solutions that balance strategic thinking with creative execution.
  • Your personable yet decisive leadership style enables you to build strong client relationships and inspire teams at all levels.
  • You are capable of managing budgets with transparency and efficiency.



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated success managing large, multi-faceted accounts with a mix of creative and operational responsibilities
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail
  • Agency experience required
  • Experience mentoring junior team members and fostering a collaborative team environment

Salary Range: $94,000 - $165,000

Golin has included the base salary range or hourly rate for this role. Actual compensation offered within the range will depend upon, among other factors: a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience; actual ranges for current or former employees in the role; and market considerations.
