SUMMARY

The primary objective of this position is to ensure process control on the production line in critical quality assurance areas. Generate and maintain quality training and testing for production employees. Lead the quality lab through managing the day-to-day activities of the QA Inspectors.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety/5S:



  • Take personal ownership to work safely each and everyday


  • Actively engage in theplant's Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts through maintaining 5S standards and area/pillar activities as assigned.
  • General housekeeping in your work area
  • Follow the company waste management program - separate all recyclable material and discard waste into the appropriate containers to ensure sustainability efforts maximized
  • Remain actively 100% engaged in all safety initiatives and comply with all plant safety regulations


Quality:



  • Run all testing procedures in accordance with the specification and frequencies that are required.
  • Enter all testing data into AQ system.
  • Enter required data on control charts.
  • Assist operations and maintenance in identifying and communicating any quality or process issues.
  • Use data driven decisions to help the Technical, Operations and Maintenance departments become more proactive in process control and reaction.
  • Train operations employees on quality aesthetics and testing procedures, and understand the benefits of control charting.
  • Understand weight gage calibration process.
  • Responsible for testing protocols and product collection during specified trials.
  • Complete knowledge of raw material specifications and of all finished product specifications
  • Records and maintains technical department daily log book.
  • Troubleshooting and support for Granville personnel, Toledo personnel and other OC personnel.
  • Provides backup for Shift Quality Technicians as necessary
  • Communicates and coordinates regularly with Tech Leader on product and process issues.
  • Maintains quality hold tag area
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as directed


People Leadership:



  • Responsible for full scope leadership - recruitment, training, scheduling, influencing, corrective action, and performance management of hourly QC techs
  • Ensure a productive and engaged labor climate within the department
  • Perform all daily management functions in accordance with Kronos (payroll) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)


  • Comply with all plant rules and corporate policies regarding business conduct



SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The employee should hold the following abilities:



  • Properly use tools and housekeeping resources (examples - mop, broom, powered industrial floor scrubber, shovel, pick, paint brush, lawn mower, weed eater, rake, etc.)
  • Assess and only operate equipment when all guarding and safety devices are in proper working order


  • Must understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must be self-motivated to work independently and in a group
  • Must perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Regular onsite attendance
  • Must possess strong communication and organizational skills

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPETENCIES

The employee must be able to:



  • Log onto a computer and navigate via keyboard to access paycheck/benefits enrollment information and accomplish required online training routinely
  • May be required to log into and navigate production monitoring systems such as SAP for work notifications, quality and production tracking, etc.



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee must possess the following:



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency



ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:



  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance
  • Work for up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment
  • Routinely ascend and descend stairs and ladders as work area requires
  • Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - steel toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask), gloves, bump cap/hard hat as necessary for task
  • Pass drug screen post offer
  • Successful complete background check
  • Pass post offer physical as necessary
  • Verifiable and sustained authorization to work in the United States
  • Standing and walking continuously for entire work shift up to 12 hours
  • Working in and around fiberglass mat and asphalt fumes continuously without irritation
