Building Engineering Services (BES) provides industry leading mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, structural, fire and life safety, and lighting design services for a wide variety of buildings that include public, municipal, private, and government project types. Projects are a balance of local as well as across the region. With a team of experienced staff in specific market sectors such as Water/Wastewater, Data Centers, Healthcare, and Industrial facilities, we provide engineering excellence for our clients.

We are hiring a Control Systems Manager for our Florida, Alabama and Mississippi BES Practice. Our Control Systems and OT Cybersecurity Business Class provides comprehensive control systems and cybersecurity lifecycle services to all HDR business groups and clients.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi area coordination, monitoring and improvement of technical competencies of Business Class staff and products to meet client needs and market drivers, all within direction and goals of business class plans.
  • Coordinate staffing and project needs on a regional level with U.S. East Coast Section Managers.
  • Participate in delivery of project services to meet client expectations
  • Collaborate on business class efforts with area operations, marketing and project management
  • Participate in business class practice and professional discipline groups, project teams and activities to continually improve standards and best practices, and implement effective quality assurance and quality control reviews
  • Participate in business class strategic planning, budgeting and plan implementation
  • Take responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support
  • Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections
  • Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews
  • See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system
  • Implement, monitor and support company policy
  • Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel
  • Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • PLC/WTP and WWTP software programming experienceHands-on experience designing SCADA systems, including schematics and loops
  • Experience managing control systems projects
  • Knowledge of automation hardware including but not limited to Allen-Bradley, Emerson, Foxboro, Modicon, Siemens, and GE.
  • Knowledge of automation software including but not limited to Wonderware, iFix, FacotryTalk, VTScada, IgnitionProficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 10 years experience
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
