Position Description:
Purpose
The Division of Community Health and Intervention Research in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking to hire a Research Scientist I to join our team. The applicant must be willing and able to focus on conducting activities, quantitative analysis, and manuscript preparation for the ongoing and longitudinal Self-sampling to Optimize anal Lesion Outcomes (SOLO) study. This study assesses the utility of self-sampling modalities for anal cancer screening. Dr. Alan Nyitray's research is recruiting 572 sexual minority men and transgender persons who have sex with men in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Houston. Outcomes include assessment of compliance with screening and its accuracy, and assessment of molecular biomarkers. Secondarily, the applicant will conduct quantitative analysis and manuscript preparation for Dr. Nyitray's prior studies. Dr. Nyitray's team is housed at the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center and draws on the expertise of its faculty and staff along with the expertise of faculty and staff at the Center for AIDS Intervention Research. The applicant will report to Dr. Nyitray and work closely with MCW biostatisticians.
Primary Functions
- Design and execute complex research procedures, for example, data analysis plans.
- Develop and perform routine and complex protocols for study activities.
- Support coordination of research study activities in concert with the study coordinator.
- Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring quality-assurance activities like collaborator adherence to study protocol activities.
- Collaborate with the principal investigator to perform statistical analyses.
- Perform and develop routine and complex computational and database methods for data collection. Will serve as primary statistician for study.
- Develop and/or introduce new methodologies for dry lab procedures.
- Provide oversight of the study coordinator in the maintenance of supplies, communication with vendors, tracking of purchase orders.
- Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff to evaluate and interpret data collected in the study.
- May oversee the work of other study personnel including training and development as well as daily work direction/delegation/prioritizing.
