Job Summary

The Senior Ethics Specialist assists in the day to day responsibility for communication of corporate values and ethical expectations through effective training and awareness; interpretation and application of ethical standards; and analysis of ethics activity to identify and report trends.

Senior Ethics Specialists are expected to possess or rapidly develop subject matter expertise and advanced skills necessary to maintain a continuous focus on an organizational culture of ethics. In addition, they identify problems, develop solutions, communicate messages using the appropriate tone and style, take actions to mitigate ethical risks then monitor to ensure behaviors are not repeated. Employees at this level manage projects and initiatives with minimal supervision but are expected to pursue limited guidance for unusual or complex projects or issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop effective communications to ensure timely and accurate information is shared with workers related to ethical expectations (e.g., implementation of a multi-year communication strategy)
  • Prepare and deliver ethics related training and awareness material to address risks
  • Assist with an internal network of ethics liaisons to produce change management plans to support the Company's ethics initiatives
  • Research issues and rules related to ethics to determine their impact on our Company
  • Benchmark specific ethics program elements and recommend improvements (e.g., codes, policies, processes)
  • Gather and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of the implementation of the ethics program
  • Cross train on other related tasks as needed, including ethics-related investigations, conflict of interest administration, and ethics and compliance training

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degreeAND four (4) years minimum of related work experience
  • In lieu of bachelor's degree, high school diploma/GED AND eight (8) years minimum of related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Ethics, Employee Relations, Human Resources, Legal, Corporate Communications, Change Management or other relevant positions
  • Demonstrated ability to convey information clearly and effectively to suit different audiences
  • Ability to collaborate as an effective member of the team
  • Strong listening skills
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills
  • Experience managing confidential information with a high degree of integrity
  • Excellent work product and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft products such as Word and PowerPoint

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid environment which will include prolonged sitting at desk or workstation, exposure to personal computer monitor, and frequent use of keyboard and phone. Onsite 3 days per week at Duke Energy Plaza.
  • Work environment requires the ability to work under time constraints and associated pressures.
