JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision to ensure the proper cleaning, disinfection, assembly and sterilization of surgical instrumentation and scopes. Following manufacture IFUs and utilizing all supporting technology.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience
3 years of Certified Central Sterile Processing Experience
Must be proficient in 4 basic operational services in addition to flexible scopes and Robotics to include cleaning, reprocessing and sterilization
- Licenses and Certifications
Certified Central Sterile Technician certifications under HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) with no lapses or
Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician under CBSPD (Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) with no lapses
Have or obtain within 12 months of hire one of the following additional certifications: (CHL) CERTIFIED HEALTHCARE LEADER, (CIS) CERTIFIED INSTRUMENT SPECIALST, CERTIFIED ENDOSCOPE REPROCESSR, or (CFER) CERTIFIED FLEX ENDOSCOPE REPROCESSOR
Lapse in additional certifications will result in being reclassified as a Tech II.
JOB DUTIES
- While wearing proper PPE, unloads dirty case carts and prepares instruments, supplies, and equipment for decontamination. Decontaminates instruments, supplies, and equipment per manufacturer's instructions and departmental policies and procedures. Inspects decontaminated items for cleanliness and damages. Tests decontaminated items to ensure proper functioning prior to sterilization
- Handles items carefully and prevents damages to delicate instruments. Identifies broken, damaged instruments and malfunctioning equipment and removes from service. Communicates items removed from service to Central Sterile Processing Coordinator promptly.
- Maintains thorough and accurate sterilization documentation and record keeping by maintaining permanent records and test results.
- Labels packages, items, and container systems to be sterilized with proper sterilization information and initials of preparer.
- Utilizes proper telephone etiquette by answering and identifying yourself and speaking clearly.
- Must complete yearly training modules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
