Job Description

Manages, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of support staff in nutritional aspects of patient care. Serves as liaison to health care team on all pertinent patient and nutritional concerns.

Job Responsibility

1.Provides leadership to team members and supervisors by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives.
2.Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system.
3.Works on moderately complex matters of diverse scope where analysis of issues, data and processes requires multiple factor evaluation.
4.Implements policies and procedures regarding nutritional care for patients in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
5.Addresses and manages nutritional care in more complex patient care situations.
6.Designs and conducts nutrition training programs for physicians, healthcare professionals, graduate students, and community, as needed.
7.Represents and markets programs to external organizations, healthcare professionals, governmental agencies, community groups, schools, etc.
8.Identifies and leads opportunities to make changes to improve operations across team(s).
9.Works under consultative direction toward long-range goals/objectives.
10.Assists leadership in setting strategic direction for key programs.
11.Conducts briefings and departmental meetings; maintains frequent contact with other managers.
12.Provides direction and guidance to team members and/or supervisory personnel
13.Responsible for acquiring and managing staffing appropriately for department(s) and collaborating with HR to fulfill requirements.
14.Responsible for performance reviews, corrective actions, promotional decisions, and pay actions for direct reports.
15.Manages budget expenditures for teams and/or small to moderate projects.

Job Qualification




  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Current Registered Dietician Certification with the Commissions on Dietetic Registration in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience and 2-5 years of leadership / management experience, required.
