Overview

The Managing Director, Energy develops, manages, and advances the strategic objectives of the Energy team. Builds a client base, implements disciplined business development activities, is an active member of the leadership team, and is involved in the community. Expectations are to increase the Energy loan portfolio through identifying and capturing loan opportunities that are consistent with CrossFirst Bank loan policy with an appropriate loan structure, for the associated risk(s). Develops and expands relationships for long term business partnering with clients, prospective business, individual clients, and internal business partners.

CrossFirst Bank will now operate as a separate subsidiary but will merge with Busey Bank, at the end of June. At that time, it will take on the Busey Bank brand.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance on implementation and execution of team goals.

  • Possess a clear understanding of performance expectations and address any performance deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Monitor workflow and projects consistent with the Bank's strategic and business plans.
  • Prepare management reports as requested.
  • Meet or exceed all goals and targets related to the identification, acquisition, and retention of prospective and current clients.
  • Structure profitable energy lending solutions that best meets the individual client needs.
  • Analyze customers' needs and ascertain their financial position and credit worthiness; establish and negotiate terms, costs, repayment methods, collateral requirements, and rates; manage relationship with customer monitoring repayment activities and variance in changes in the company.
  • Ensure that all energy loans meet credit/financial requirements and complies with all policies and procedures as determined by the Bank.
  • Build relationships based on trust and strategic partnerships with business owners and other decision makers.
  • Analyze, synthesize, and communicate complex data, financial data and related issues in an accurate, objective and straightforward manner.
  • Timely communicate any pertinent, sensitive client or employee issues to the Regional President.
  • Interact with internal and external clients and provide extraordinary service.
  • Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with other employees, clients, and vendors.
  • Represent the Energy Team in a highly professional manner.
  • Complete job assignments in a professional, timely and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work.
  • Maintain confidentiality; adhere to CrossFirst Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive energy, credit knowledge and success in business development and relationship management.
  • Ability to influence others with fact-based insights and by consistently providing credible challenges to others involved in the lending decision process.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on fewer-but-impactful process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data, draw sound conclusions, and formulate recommendations that address critical variables.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking laws and regulations with an emphasis on franchise lending and credit administration.
  • Strong knowledge of franchise lending in specialized industries and current market conditions.
  • Board level presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to build and manage a strong team
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Formal credit training, an advanced degree and/or ongoing AIB seminars and other resources is highly preferred.
