Overview
VTG is seeking a Senior Engineer to support NavalX. This position is located in Arlington, V, and will support the Department of Navy initiatives for Digital Transformation, System-of-Systems Engineering (SoSE), DevSecOps, and the future of Digital warfighting. The Engineer will serve in a cross-functional role supporting a variety of Digital/SoS efforts across Naval program offices. This position will be 100% onsite in Arlington (Crystal City), VA).
What will you do?
- Providing engineering and technical direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems to meet technical requirements.
- Making recommendations and advising on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
- Performing risk assessments and analysis employing modeling and simulation techniques.
- Support technical reviews of drawings, interfaces, and specifications of Naval systems and networks.
- Generate and deliver timely status updates, weekly reports, and briefing materials as required.
- Identify, consolidate, and inform the prioritization of technology gaps and solutions for the Disruptive Capabilities Office (DCO).
- Oversee the development and execution of technology projects, ensuring alignment with rapid innovation goals and timelines.
- Analyze emerging technologies and concepts to evaluate their potential impact on defense capabilities and prioritize their integration within the DCO operating model.
- Recommend prioritization of technology initiatives based on their potential to enhance defense capabilities within accelerated timelines, considering factors such as viability, feasibility, scalability, interoperability, and more.
- Contribute to regular progress reports and recommendations for senior DCO leadership, highlighting the prioritization and selection of technologies for rapid deployment.
- Clarify and refine prioritized list with Fleet reps.
- Identify effort, length, scope, assumptions for each problem.
- Build sprint proposal and identify funding and staffing needs.
- Create prioritization recommendations from sprint list.
- Define end criteria for sprint-project transition.
- Define specific objectives and Measurements of Success.
- Refine mission/needs statements and evaluate trade-offs, alternatives, and criteria.
- Create POC list for different levels.
- Execute tech assessment.
- Produce OV-1 of Enemy Threats & response capabilities.
- Coordinate with exercise or experiment planners.
- Define clear inputs, outputs, and expectations for handoff.
Do you have what it takes?
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering discipline.
- 15+ years of relevant experience with DoD.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Systems Engineering Experience.
- Modeling and Simulation, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Architecture.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge of MS Project, IMS, WBS.
- Experience with applications (Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence), Power BI.
- Highly motivated individual capable of working independently and/or in teams.
