Job Overview

The Director of Events & Meetings leads the team to develop a comprehensive eventing strategy, across Macy's stores and select signature corporate events. This role primarily is designed to drive sales, increase foot traffic, and enhance customer engagement through high-impact events that elevate the Macy's brand experience. Reporting to the SVP, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs and maintaining dotted-line connectivity to key cross-functional partners, this leader ensures seamless coordination between store strategy, marketing, merchandising, and communications teams.

What You Will Do

Event Strategy & Execution



  • Collaborate with business function partners to develop seasonal, actionable playbooks for Macy's store leadership to execute enticing customer events and activations that will drive traffic, sales conversion and brand engagement across markets.
  • Design event strategy for various stakeholder groups, including companywide internal events, that offer compelling experiences and measurable KPIs/goals.
  • Optimize event execution processes to ensure efficiency, scalability and consistency across locations.


Marketing, Merchants, Communications & Cross-Functional Coordination



  • Serve as the lead amongst multiple departments to ensure and enable effective collaboration, consistency and measurable sales results.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on seasonal brand creative and messaging and to align events with broader company initiatives.
  • Work closely with Communications to ensure messaging consistency.
  • Build relationships with vendors and brand partners to enhance event reach and effectiveness.


Operational & Financial Oversight



  • Develop and implement processes to operationalize the event vision, ensuring smooth execution at scale.
  • Review and benchmark results of clear KPIs and ROI metrics to measure event success, including foot traffic, sales impact and customer engagement.
  • Prepare a case for budget approval and oversee efficient execution while achieving maximum impact.


Leadership & Future Growth



  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team focused on retail event production, PR and marketing.
  • Ensure a relationship based collaborative team focused on results-driven approach, where data and insights inform strategy and execution.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships within my team and across Macy's, and ensures authentic connections with customers and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Skills You Will Need

Event Strategy & Execution - Expertise in conceptualizing, producing, and executing high-impact events that drive traffic, sales, and brand engagement.

Retail Marketing & Consumer Engagement - Strong understanding of retail marketing, experiential activations, and strategies that enhance customer interaction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration - Proven ability to work across departments, including marketing, merchandising, communications, and store leadership, to align events with company goals.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management - Experience building and managing relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and brand partners to maximize event effectiveness.

Data-Driven Decision Making - Ability to define, track, and analyze event success metrics (e.g., sales impact, foot traffic, customer engagement) to optimize future initiatives.

Operational & Financial Acumen - Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and operationalizing large-scale event strategies while ensuring efficiency and scalability.

Leadership & Team Development - Strong leadership skills to mentor, develop, and manage a high-performing team focused on event production, PR, and marketing.

Project & Time Management - Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple events simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Communication & Influence - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders and navigate competing priorities.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 10+ years of experience in event marketing, PR, and event production, preferably in retail, fashion, media, or hospitality.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
  • Able to travel as needed for event execution and oversight.
