Job Overview

The Manager Continuing Medical Education oversees the CME Program in the development and implementation of accredited continuing educational initiatives for the Children's Hospital Colorado System. In partnership with the CME Director, plans and executes the delivery of high-quality education to meet the educational strategy and budgetary goals of the department. This position is responsible for assuring compliance with all applicable accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies.

Shift: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, Hybrid.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience: Three years of professional experience in continuing medical education.
  • Equivalency: In lieu of a bachelor's degree, one year of professional experience will serve as an equivalency to one year of education.
Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

No direct patient care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the outcomes strategy for individual programs and the overall department; and ensures the strategies are implemented in an effective manner. Evaluates and implements strategies to improve the program and outcomes.
  • Develops processes, procedures, and checklists to facilitate the development and execution of educational programs. Leads projects in the planning, development, and implementation of continuing education activities, both live and online. Leads in developing/modifying internal processes.
  • Leads team members in conducting research and analysis, developing solutions, planning, implementing, and resolving operational issues. Defines and maintains internal processes and procedures for functional area.
  • Manages the implementation of new policies, procedures, and strategies within multiple Continuing Education teams to assure the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) requirements and other compliance requirements are met.
  • Responsible for assuring compliance with all applicable Continuing Education accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies.
  • Designs processes and oversees and quality checks data creation and final submission of annual ACCME program submissions.
  • Leads the ACCME self-study creation and decision making on chosen criteria to support every four- or six-year accreditation audit.
  • Responsible for the CME/CPD continuing education accreditation and staying current on legal, regulatory and policy changes affecting the field of CME/NCPD.
  • Serves as Designated Support Officer for hospital wide learning management system.
  • Represents CHCO with other healthcare systems and associations through presentations and participation on state-wide and national committees and active participation in professional associations. Serves as the point of contact on communications out to the enterprise on team activities.
  • Resolves operational and customer service issues, makes decisions that are inclusive of multiple perspectives and solves underlying problems.
  • Participates in the development of budget recommendations for operating expenditures.
  • Selects, trains, develops and evaluates team members. Manages and develops an effective staff; providing effective communication, leadership, guidance, education and resources. Establishes team communication norms and staff rounding.
  • Builds annual work plans and team performance metrics. Defines customer service and quality standards for function. Reviews customer service score cards and work quality with staff (phone call monitoring, customer surveys, and etc.).

Guidelines: Guidelines are in the form of stated goals and objectives for function.

Complexity: Work assignment is unstructured and leader is responsible for implementing and managing a variety of objectives, resources, and initiatives to achieve the goals of the function. Duties performed include operational planning; developing standards, priorities, guidelines, processes, measurement (evaluation) systems; implementation of production and performance management standards; and allocating resources. Work is tactical and operational in nature.

Decision Making: Employee is responsible for planning, organizing, allocating resources, ensuring compliance with procedures, and achieving the objectives of the function.

Communications: Communication at this level is primarily internally focused and involves establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with team members, peers, directors, and executives. Provides guidance and interpretation of the enterprise's policies, procedures, and standards. Provides information to higher-level directors and executives.

Supervision Received: Responsible for achieving the objectives of function within the scope of established guidelines. Employee is expected to resolve problems that arise in the normal course of the work. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and feasibility of decisions.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $76,368.20 to $114,552.29
Hourly Salary Range: $36.72 to $55.07
