What your job will be like:

Jefferson Lab is seeking a team member to work with the Hall CExperimental Nuclear Physics Division Group todesign highly complex mechanical equipment and structures, modify existing designs to improve performance, and facilitate operations. You will also be responsible forintegration of Designs with other systems such as Magnets, Detectors, Cryogenics, Targets, and Civil Construction. The designer will be tasked with turning concepts and ideas into designs for working assemblies with guidance from physicists, engineers, and senior designers.

In this role you will:



  • Support Hall C experimental program by working with scientists, engineers, designers and technicians to develop requirements and concepts, complete 3D models and design.
  • Manage cost estimates, place purchases requisitions, oversee fabrication, inspect the final product, and oversee theinstallation of parts/assemblies.
  • Support existing systems within Hall C and prior systems by producing drawings, 3D models and documents. Update and archive drawings and models.
  • Produce accurate, simple and cost-effective fabrication documentation (3D modeling, assembly and orthogonal drawings) preferably to use NX with Team center and updating older drawings using I-deas and 2D Autocad.
  • Maintain databases and records for audits

  • High School Diploma


Experience



  • 5 or more years in the Engineering and Design field


Experience and Education Exchange

Education above the minimum may be substituted for experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Ability to useNX with Team center and I-deas, 2D Auto-cad in designs
  • Familiar with geometric dimension and tolerance and tolerance stack-up analysis per ASME standards.,
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.,
  • Strong and effective communication both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to understand various techniques with machining, welding, tolerances to be applied to designs
  • Ability to use tape measures and a vernier caliper
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and interact with engineering and scientific staff
