Job Overview

The Engineering Internship supports Continuous Improvement (CI) and Manufacturing Excellence (ME) initiatives in the manufacture of medical devices used to provide temporary circulatory support for the treatment of acute heart failure.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties



  • Project: Remove waste from the shop floor record administration process

    • Observe the process and collect data to gain an understanding of the requirements and current work flow.
    • Gather input and feedback from Production and Engineering SMEs, and organize the findings into potential options of a solution.
    • Present the options to a cross-functional team of stakeholders, for a consensus on a detailed future state of production process record keeping and flow.
    • Plan and execute implementation of the improved administration process into the Enterprise Resource Planning software, with the goal of increasing productivity and availability of process input/output data.


  • Assist in assessing CI and cost of non-conformance initiatives for progress, outcome, and business impact.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering in work cell and production line balancing, line layout design, time and motion studies.
  • Participates in writing Technical Files, attending interdepartmental meetings and reviews, and captures meeting minutes.
  • Create, revise, and/or implement Quality System documentation into the documentation control system.



Minimum Requirements



  • Currently a junior or senior student attending a 4-year undergraduate program, or working towards a Master's degree, in an Engineering curriculum.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Excellent written, communication and organizational skills, with keen attention to details.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-working skills.
  • Advanced computer software proficiency: MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
