Description

Under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, the Group Lead will supervise and lead the materials, shipping and receiving department. The Group Lead will be responsible inventory accuracy, transactional integrity incoming and outgoing freight and movement of all materials within and between the plants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary.




  • Planning, directing, and overseeing the operations of the Parts and Shipping / Receiving departments.
  • Maintains staff by interviewing, selecting, and training employees; maintaining and promoting a safe working environment; and developing personal growth opportunities for employees.
  • Oversees and leads the work of employees within departments to ensure accurate inventory and timeliness of work.
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations, coaching and counseling employees, and enforcing company policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Train departmental employees to properly operate machinery and company software.
  • Maintain manufactured parts inventory control.
  • Act as a liaison with freight carriers and project managers on projects
  • Track due dates for upcoming projects to ensure materials are ready for production.
  • Track and manage parts, pick-ups and delivery dates with outsource vendors.
  • Ensure that inspection of materials and bills of lading are accurate, and product is not damaged prior to signing the bills of lading.
  • Ensure processes of receiving damaged product is followed.
  • Verifies checklists and punch lists are complete before product shipment.
  • Tracks and maintains job schedules and deadlines for department.
  • Monitors shortages and notifies parts pickers of shortages received.
  • Reviews and orders shipping and receiving supplies
  • Returns excess production materials to inventory and maintain all offsite inventory records and reporting. Perform and process.


  • Cycle Counts as scheduled/requested.
  • Prepare and participate in physical inventories, when required.
  • Sign off on PRF's to make or reorder parts.
  • Assist in packaging and preparing customer orders for shipment.
  • Send RFQs for freight and storage to freight companies.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

The right candidate shall possess the following qualifications and experience to be considered for the position:

Education and/Or Experience



  • Requires High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Prefer education equivalent to an associate degree in related field.


  • Requires 3-5 years of shipping experience within a manufacturing environment.


  • Current forklift certification required.
  • Requires 3-5 years of warehouse/shipping and receiving experience.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide as well as the ability to perform metric conversion.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with and provide work direction to employees.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications and routings and other warehouse paperwork.
  • Requires a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Requires a strong knowledge of MRP/ERP; Epicor experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with ISO procedures.
  • Lean Manufacturing background a plus.



Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret invoices, bills of lading, and other Company documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally loud.
