The Sterile Processing Technician Lead supports with properly decontaminating, assembling, and sterilizing medical equipment and instruments in order to comply with safety standards and provide quality patient care. * Works under the direction of Supervisor and assists with the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD)
* Serves as a departmental resource for SPD and other departments and models excellent customer service
* Maintains frequent and ongoing communication with the Sterile Processing Supervisor
* Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees
* Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned
* Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees
* Assists with case carts management, case picking, and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor
* Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators
* Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department
* Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs
* Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies
* Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
* Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Associate's Degree
EXPERIENCE: Required: 4 + years of experience in Sterile Processing or a related field
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: Required: Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
Preferred: Ambulatory Surgery Technician Certified (CASSPT_, Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor Certification (CFER), Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), Certified Sterile Processing Management (CSPM)
