The primary function of this positions is to perform complex work involving administration and coordination of operations and personnel related to clinic and administrative support for the Neuroscience Institute, which includes but is not limited to, Psychiatry and Neurology.

Examples of Duties
-
ADMINISTRATIVE 100% *Supervises and monitors the work of all reports to ensure that patient care is delivered in a high quality, efficient and safe manner. *Serves as a resource to all staff, faculty, and administration concerning procedures and policies to subordinates and other personnel; directs the compilation and maintenance of procedure manuals and informational materials. *Develops and implements action plans in collaboration with department managers, and administration as needed to enhance daily operations. *Conducts major budget and feasibility studies affecting multiple areas and other complex feasibility and studies for the Department of Psychiatry. *Supply, manage, and track analytical reports that include statistical information pertaining to revenue cycle, patient billing data, etc. To report out on trending, strategic planning, and problem resolution. *Serves as a liaison to Patient Billing and Medical Records for the Department of Psychiatry. *Represents the Department of Psychiatry in a variety of institutional and external meetings/committees/conferences, as required. *Meets regularly with Department of Psychiatry leadership to review operational issues, solve operational problems, monitor progress towards identified goals and share other relevant information. *Works with department managers to design training material, provide leadership training and develop strategies for improving employee's workplace environments. *Participates in department recruitment efforts, including assisting with the development of position descriptions, conducting interviews and assisting with hiring decisions for civil service staff, principal administrative and faculty positions. *Consults with requisitioning personnel to obtain information concerning kind, quality, and quantity of items requested, with responsibility for providing information concerning the relative merits of items that can be obtained from various suppliers, suggesting substitutions, and coordinating inter-departmental purchases for the purpose of preventing duplication and standardizing item purchases. *Conducts major cost, space utilization and other studies impacting multiple units and provides summary information and recommendations to higher level administration. *Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Level 2: Health Care Administrator II
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
- Any one or any combination, that equals 3 years (36 months) of the following types of preparation--
- college course work leading to a major in hospital administration, health administration, or business administration, or similar area of study
- Associate Degree (60 semester hours) equals 1 year (12 months)
- 90-semester hours equals 2 years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals 3 years (36 months)
- OR
- progressively more responsible experience that provided a knowledge of generally accepted principles, theories, and practices used in hospital administration, health administration, business administration or similar professional experience
- One year (12 months) of hospital/medical center/health care administrative work experience
OR
College course work leading to a Master's Degree in hospital administration, health administration, business administration or similar area of study - Three years (36 months) of responsible administrative experience comparable to Health Care Administrator I in this series
