Staff Associate (Attendance) - 12 Month (25-26)

Under the Principal, the 12-month Staff Associate in attendance will focus on family outreach, engagement, case management, data analysis, data cleansing, office hours, and truancy.

This person will coordinate school-based attendance efforts including strategies, technical assistance, and community support for schools in the effort to reduce chronic absenteeism and improve the attendance rate. The 12-month Staff Associate will ground this work in the latest research and best practices, as well as district and school-level data, and will approach the work as an opportunity to nurture student wholeness. The 12-month Staff Associate will work in close collaboration with key partners and stakeholders, both in City Schools and beyond.


Essential Functions



  • Complies with attendance policies and procedures at the school levels.
  • Keeps abreast of trends and research as it relates to attendance and chronic absenteeism.
  • Identifies students in schools for targeted resources and supports.
  • Plans and organize strategies to improve school attendance in the school and school community.
  • Gains deep understanding of current initiatives that support improved attendance and ensure dissemination and adoption of best practices across the district.
  • Tracks truant students, instigates interventions and support, and pursues legal action in truancy court, where necessary.
  • Develops positive working relationships with community-based organizations, universities, and others outside the school system that have an interest in attendance issues.
  • Develops and monitors processes for ensuring compliance with legal mandates for students with disabilities as it relates to attendance.
  • Collects, analyzes, interprets, prepares, and reports data on home instruction, attendance, chronic absenteeism, truancy, withdrawals, and related initiatives.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board polices and the professional standards.

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study. One year of related experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and success in coordinating multiple school teams (i.e. school climate, SST, attendance, etc.) and community partners in school climate transformation and improvement endeavors.
  • Ability to plan and evaluate effective strategies for improving school attendance.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.


Preferred:



  • Master's degree in a related field of study.
