Methodist Hospital is looking to hire a Nurse Manager to join our Observation team! Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director and Vice President, the Nurse Manager is responsible for directing, planning, coordinating and supervising activities associated with patient care on assigned patient care department(s) where nursing care is delivered. This includes establishing, maintaining, and evaluating standards of care and assuming responsibility for staff development, environmental, human resource and fiscal management. Department Summary: Observation is a 2-floor unit. 1st floor Observation has 10 beds, and the primary population is Urology surgical patients, infections and short stay surgical patients. 2W has 12 beds and patient the patient population is Orthopedic surgery patients and short stay surgical patients. Department Highlights:
- Telemetry monitoring
- Works closely with Orthopedic Surgery team
- Tends to be lower acuity, higher patient turnover
Work Schedule: 1.0 FTE - Daytime departmental needs and participation in leader call schedule Required Qualifications:
- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or AD in Nursing and Baccalaureate degree in related field required.
- Four years of acute care RN experience with two years in a nursing leadership position, e.g., Assistant Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, Administrative Nursing Supervisor, or other leadership experience.
- Quality Improvement experience (Unit Based Quality Team, committee experience, and/or specific quality improvement project participation)
- Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
- Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with/awareness of equipment used in patient care may include but is not limited to syringes, IV poles, suction machines, BP equipment, stethoscope, feeding pumps, IV pumps, catheter tubes, heating/cooling devices, restraints, computers, wheelchairs, carts, scales, commodes, beds (regular and alternative), shower chairs, Hoyer lift, audiovisual equipment, oximeter's, call lights, Vocera, pagers, Pyxis medication dispensing systems, telemetry battery packs, cardiac monitors, and surgical equipment.
- Computer, fax, printer, copy machine, telephone and other office machines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
- National (ANA) certification in Management, or clinical nursing specialty preferred.
