Technical Buyer

This role will focus primarily on New Product
Introduction and will work closely with Sales, Engineering, Quality Assurance
and Ducommun's qualified sources to respond to customer RFQs. The Technical
Buyer must be able read and interpret customer specifications, customer and
Ducommun's quality clauses and other critical program requirements. RFQ turning around time is a critical metric
for this position. The Technical buyer is expected to communicate, escalate and
resolve all issues that impede the quick turnaround of customer quotes.

Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.

Our Facility in Carson, CA is our Engineered Products Group location, which houses our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, Radiofrequency Departments.

Job Summary

  • Review MRP for parts requirements to support new releases of requisitions for procurement and changes in existing purchase order quantity and delivery requirements.
  • Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders as required ensuring competitive pricing through negotiation of price and lead-times.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers that align with Ducommun's sourcing strategies. Actively participate in Ducommun quoting opportunities and ensure alignment with customer pricing, Leadtime and quality requirements.
  • Arranges for and authorizes the return of rejected material to suppliers.
  • Confirms prices charged on invoices and handles adjustment claims.
  • Arranges for interview and contacts between suppliers or their representatives and Engineering, Manufacturing
  • Engineering, Production Control, Tooling, and/or other Manufacturing Personnel.
  • Administer basic purchasing functions such as maintaining more than one source of supply, verifying purchase order request for proper authorization suggesting changes or adjustments in quantities to take advantage of price breaks and trends.
  • Promotes supplier adherence to schedules by personal contact, assisting in the procurement of materials, components parts, tooling, supplies, etc.
  • Assumes responsibility for proper closure of purchase orders.
  • Perform Miscellaneous duties as required by supervision.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experienced procurement professional with technical knowledge, preferably in aerospace industry.
  • Strong collaboration and facilitation skills supporting projects that cross multiple functional areas. Strong performance management and leadership skills.
  • Enjoys problem solving and challenges.
  • Team player with ability to communicate professionally at all levels of the organization.

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree, or
    equivalent experience, in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or other related
    degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of
    experience in technical procurement role and aerospace regulations.
  • Minimum 3 years of working
    experience with QS/ISO, ERP, or MRP environment and culture.
  • Previous experience in
    high-mix and low volume manufacturing business.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or
    Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of engineering,
    production, and process techniques such as lean and continuous improvement.
  • Intermediate to advanced
    skills in Excel, Power Point, and Systems Database/Query Capability.

Base Compensation: USD 90,000.00 - 110,000.00 Paid Salaried
