DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role is situated within the Office of Children, Youth and Families, specifically in the Bureau of Policy, Programs and Operations, Division of Operations, Clearance Verification Unit. Your main duties involve the reception, examination, verification, and issuance of clearance verifications for various checks, including Pennsylvania Child Abuse, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and the National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR), as well as Out of State Clearances and the Consolidated Eligibility Letter System (CELS). The Clearance Verification Unit plays a crucial role in determining an individual's eligibility to work with children or to be responsible for a child's welfare, in accordance with Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) and related regulations. Additionally, this position entails the data entry of clearance requests into a statewide database. Interested in learning more? - Work hours vary between shifts of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after completion of training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,785 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
