Job Overview
The Fry Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food in a cafeteria type environment with a limited menu. Position is represented by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement. Work Model: Onsite/In-Office
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Cooks and packages batches of food, such as hamburgers, French fries and fried chicken, which are prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
- Cleans food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
- Cooks the exact number of items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.
- Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
- Measures ingredients required for specific food items being prepared.
- Operates large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles.
- Pre-cooks items such as bacon, in order to prepare them for later use.
- Prepares specialty foods such as pizzas, fish and chips, sandwiches, and tacos, following specific methods that usually require short preparation time.
- Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patron and prepare and cook food according to instructions.
- Verifies that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity.
- Washes, cuts, and prepares foods designated for cooking.
- Cleans, stocks, and restocks workstations and display cases.
- Maintain a "clean-as-you-go" environment at all workstations.
- Schedules activities and equipment use with others, using information about daily menus to help coordinate cooking times.
- Carve meats and portion food on serving plates to fill orders as directed.
- Prepares all food items to order, following standard recipes/procedures within specified time limits.
- Communicates throughout the shift regarding status of orders and availability of product.
- Rotates product according to "First In, First Out" to maintain shelf-life standards.
- Logs and discards all product not used by the end of the shift on the "use by" date.
- Understands and complies with food safety and temperature standards.
- Stocks/restocks items online according to TMG specifications.
- Cleans, organizes, and maintains fry area, walk-in refrigerator, reach-in refrigerator, cooler drawers, prep, and dry storage area.
- Work hours are subject to change, may be required to spend extended periods of time away from home and work flexible hours in include weekends and holidays.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years previous food experience in a commercial/institutional environment or as a line/fry cook.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Favorable National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI); or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level or Top-Secret Level, as applicable to the position/location requirements.
- Ability to successfully pass employment background check and/or drug testing required on contract.
- Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
- U.S. Citizenship.
