JOB TITLE Budget Analyst JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY Position reports to the Director of Budgets and is responsible for complex budget analysis and reporting functions for the University. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting research and cost-benefits analysis; identifying efficiencies; creating weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual budget reports for internal and external distribution. In addition, this position will also assist with budgeting and forecasting for the University. This includes, but is not limited to assisting in the planning, development and monitoring of the university's operating and capital budgets while providing limited consultative budget services to departments. JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uses advanced report writing techniques to provide timely financial reporting including budget forecasting and analysis as well as compliant interim and annual financial statements.
  • Assist with planning, developing, maintaining the annual operating, and capital budgets.
  • Researches and analyzes fluctuations between current financial results compared to prior year(s), prior month(s) and budgeted amounts at the university and department levels.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining university performance metrics.
  • Responsible for maintaining historical data.
  • Responsible for tracking position budgeting.
  • Identifies opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Assist departments with issues related to fund availability and budget compliance.
  • Builds weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual delivered reports for internal and external use.
  • Assist in the timely completion of all annual external reporting requirements.
  • Promotes policies and best practices for meeting university budget compliance objectives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Current knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability to develop various types of budget documents.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Ability to identify key policy issues and make recommendations to senior management officials.
  • Ability to be proactive in analyzing problems and causes and developing solutions.
  • Ability to establish effective and cooperative internal and external working relationships.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve technical budget problems.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze budget and statistical data.
  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and
  • Six years of appropriate experience
  • In lieu of a degree, any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of professional budget and analytical experience Comprehensive budget reporting skills preferably within the State University System of Florida ("SUS") or other institution of higher education, to include hands on working knowledge of reporting writing.
  • Workday and/or Adaptive experience is preferred but not required.
  • Current knowledge of computerized accounting systems, Governmental Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GASB) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW.

  • This position requires a criminal background check.
  • This position is subject to Federal and State Privacy Regulations.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Occasional evenings/weekends as necessary.

TARGET HIRING SALARY: $72,000 - $81,850, commensurate with experience.
