Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The mission of the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering is to unite engineering and medicine to improve lives. Our department's three core values are: innovate, collaborate and translate. Position Summary |
The Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking a Research Associate to conduct scientific research at the Biomolecular Engineering lab (Sode lab). This Research Associate will carry out the research project on the development of biosensing technologies based on the creation of biosensing molecules, such as antibodies and aptamers for in vivo continuous monitoring system. This position will also be expected to write manuscripts and contribute to writing grant applications. Additionally, this position requires high level expertise in conducting complex experiments, including electrochemical analyses (
EIS,
EGFET,
SWV, CA), biochemical analyses of antibodies and aptamers, recombinant protein production and purification, aptamers and antibodies design.
The Research Associate works closely with principal investigators and laboratory manager to plan, carry out, and manage research projects organizes and directs the daily activities of the laboratory and is responsible for mentoring laboratory personnel, including graduate students, undergraduate students, and international visiting scholars by providing guidance and supporting, coordinating research, conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control, and collecting, analyzing, interpreting lab results, preparing post- grant research reports and grant applications.
The position is full-time, with a standard work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. This role is integral to the mission of the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering, which aims to unite engineering and medicine to improve lives. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
PhD in biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or related area is desired. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Research activities and skills in the following research topics; biomolecular engineering based aptamers and antibodies design, simulation and recombinant preparation and biochemical characterization.
- Research experiences in the laboratories at different countries. Construction and characterization of electrochemical and optical biosensors with developed biosensing molecules.
- Research mentoring experiences of graduate and undergraduate students/visitors from foreign countries.
- Post Doctoral Scholar experiences with solid records of research activities in the area of biomolecular engineering and biosensor development.
- Scientific and administrative communication in Japanese is also preferred.
