Under the direction of and reporting to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager, the Training Specialist will assess training needs, develop, coordinate, and administer training and development programs to maximize the human resource potential of our Manufacturing and Office teams. Training will focus on manufacturing new hires, EHS trainings, standard work procedures, compliance trainings, and professional growth topics

Responsibilities:



  • Conduct training needs assessments to identify training gaps and determine specific learning requirements across different departments or employee levels
  • Facilitate various trainings for both production and professional employees across a variety of subject matter areas
  • Conduct functional job skills training to production new hires and other groups as assigned
  • Facilitate training sessions using various methods like classroom instruction, e-learning platforms, simulations, hands-on demonstrations, or workshops
  • Assist supervisors in the development of standard work procedures to streamline processes and ensure consistent and safe work completion
  • Analyze the knowledge and skills required to meet job expectations, make recommendations on training solutions to close performance gaps, and monitor development
  • Organize and develop training programs utilizing a variety of computer-based programs or other media, including course outlines, learning objectives, and instructional materials (e.g., manuals, presentations, online modules)
  • Prepare, schedule, and conduct hands-on training, webinar-based training, and classroom presentations according to industry and company standards
  • Develop, maintain, and adhere to the Corporate Training Calendar
  • Train participants on various subject matter areas, including EHS, operations, HR, professional development, etc
  • Counsel individual managers and employees by identifying learning requirements, designing individual training or development programs, and coaching to improve performance
  • Measure the effectiveness of training programs through post-training assessments, surveys, and performance monitoring to identify areas for improvement
  • Work closely with managers, subject matter experts, and HR to align training initiatives with organizational goals
  • Research and implement best practice ideas for self-development and enhancements of the company's training function regarding current technology, facilitation, and delivery methods
  • Administrative tasks may include managing training schedules, coordinating training logistics, tracking attendance, maintaining training records, and providing support to the EHS Manager

Required Skills

Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree or relevant certifications in adult education or learning management strategies (e.g., APTD, CPTD, CPTM)
  • 2+ years of formal training or teaching experience, or equivalent
  • Experience conducting needs assessments, developing curriculum, and delivering and evaluating training
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to make decisions, be flexible, plan, organize, and give presentations
  • Ability to retain and deliver information from varying subject areas
  • Professional appearance, conduct, and performance
  • Strong proficiency in use of computers and other technology; experience with learning management systems (LMS) and other training technology tools
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate training data and measure impact
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality where necessary
  • Continual improvement mindset to promote employee growth and development
