SUMMARY

Responsible for developing and implementing state of the art information technology for application development, documentation and programming support for internal and external internet applications as well as a variety of projects primarily involved in web application design and development.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Develops and implements technology strategies and platforms that meet current and future business needs.

* Designs and tests program logic, coding programs, program documentation and preparation of programs for computer operations.

* Codes, tests, debugs, documents and installs new and modified programs.

* Uses coding methods for specific programming language to enhance or initiate efficient program execution and performance and to reach optimum hardware utilization.

* Monitors production programs for expected performance and responds to errors and emergency problems.

* Works within specifications provided to meet programming assignment goals and objectives in a timely and effective manner.

* Maintains integrity of program logic and coding, and establishes required checks and balances for operational controls.

* Responsible for developing the user interface and overall customer experience for our web applications, including overall navigation flow, layout of specific pages, and interactive controls.

* Ensures that all design elements, templates and finished solutions work within a variety of browser types and screen settings along with the constraints sets by the development department and system stakeholders.

* Works with marketing, operations and development staff on style and approach for all projects.

* Provides design elements, wireframes, templates and finished solutions.

* Participates in efforts to improve quality of web applications and user experience as required.

* Work with Business Analyst and Project Manager/Owner roles to help develop and draft specifications and wireframes.

* Collaborate with co-workers on software development life cycle.

* Communicate with project stakeholders regarding requirements, user interface, features and status.

* Work collaboratively with fellow staff to advance the values and mission of Senior Market Sales by serving on relevant internal and external committees;

* Assists with special projects/assignments as requested by members of management.

* Performs other duties as assigned by management


QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Minimum of four (4) year degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, MIS or similar course area or equivalent combination of education and work experience;

One (1) or more years working experience creating web applications powered by Angular and NodeJS


SKILLS

Working knowledge of insurance services, industries, and product lines.

Knowledge of the general industry procedures, best practices and terminology including data processing systems and front-end development methods, techniques and standards.

Working knowledge of JavaScript, Angular, NodeJS, TypeScript and Material Design, Tailwind HTML (5+), and CSS (3+).

Working knowledge of NPM, GitHub, Balsamiq experiences are plus

Working knowledge of interacting with RESTful web services.

Knowledge of general office forms, processes and procedures.

Knowledge of program and project management including outcomes, quality assurance, and satisfaction measurement and interpretation.

Skill in negotiating and problem solving to resolve internal and external conflicts.

Skill in the use of time management and organizational skills.

Skill in maintaining effective working relationships with all vendors, employees and the general public.

Skill in managing development projects.

Proficient working knowledge of common computer systems and computer software programs used by SMS.

Ability to approach and communicate with a wide range of personalities in a professional and courteous manner.

Ability to be patient under frustrating circumstances and demonstrate controlled emotional affect in difficult situations.

Ability to engage in effective interpersonal interaction, verbal communication and written communication.

Ability to maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail while remaining flexible and responsive when faced with multiple urgent requests.

Ability to read, write and communicate English effectively.

Ability to maintain all company policies, including all confidentiality and safety policies.

Ability to actively contribute to team effort.

Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, make and execute decisions.

Ability to demonstrate organizational leadership qualities and develop and foster trusting relationships.

Strong verbal and written proficiencies of the English language is required and bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
