Irrigation Technician I

Summary

Responsible for performing semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and inspection of irrigation systems in City of Garland Park facilities.

Pay Range: $12.50 - $15.31 (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform excavations with specified hand tools.

• Maintain up to date knowledge of various irrigation materials.

• Transport materials between job sites.

• Responsible for the service and maintenance of assigned vehicle.

• Clean around job site.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

• No experience required

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

• Up to 1 year experience specific to irrigation installs and repairs

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of safety practices and hazards standard to work area

• Basic knowledge of irrigation materials and supplies

• Skill to operate various equipment and machinery

• Ability to understand and implement verbal and written instructions

• Ability to perform physical labor

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Class C Texas driver's license

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent works with frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold, rain, humidity, wetness, insects, noxious odors, fumes, and physical stress from exertion and lifting. Exposed to physical exertion such as bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
