Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Project management support for Hydrogen/Syngas (HyCO) plans for Large Industries in North America. Projects will be related to Steam Methane Reforming, Hydrogen purification, Amine CO2 removal systems, Pressure Swing Adsorption, and Partial Oxidation processes related to Hydrogen/Syngas production.

Candidates will be expected to carry the project from conceptualization to completion.

  • Personally complies with Air Liquide safety standards. Follows 12 Life Saving Rules at all times.

  • Manages proposal, scope development, estimating, design, procurement, installation, commissioning and close-out of plant projects that include upgrades and retrofits as well as plant improvements and expansions at existing locations. Projects range from $5 million - $30 million total value. Directly responsible for execution of project from concept to close-out.

  • Ensures that projects are completed according to Air Liquide Safety and Design procedures and policies.

  • Assists Business Development and Operations Management with economic analysis of proposed projects and develop alternative solutions.

  • Develops project scope based upon input from Operations, CTE, Zone and Plant Management, Maintenance, Business Development, and all other Project Stakeholders. Scope is to be sufficiently detailed to produce a "lump sum" estimate for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).

  • Ensures that value engineering exercises are carried out and incorporate the pertinent changes to provide lowest cost solution while maintain project requirements.

  • Completes basic engineering design functions such as P&ID mark-ups, specification review, technical bid analysis, etc.

  • Applies existing specifications to ensure functional requirements are met at the lowest cost, avoiding purchase of over-designed equipment or excess functionality.

  • Organizes and facilitates all Design Reviews on projects in compliance with Design Validation procedure.

  • Ensures that operational concerns are addressed prior to commissioning so that the process / system can be operated safely and efficiently.

  • Estimates the project. Where necessary obtain quotations for equipment and/or EPC services.

  • Generates Authorization for Capital Expenditure (ACE) requests and follow-up on the approval process.

  • Specifies equipment and services, select vendors, issue Purchase Requisitions and field contracts and expedite delivery.

  • Oversees project execution so that the end result meets the original requirements, on schedule and within budget.

  • Develops and effectively manages project budget.

  • Effectively manages changes in project scope (PCN process) and schedule to minimize impact.

  • Participates in the creation, updates and reviews of PHAs, PSSRs, and P&IDs. Assist facility with MOCs. Facilitate Action Item resolution.

  • Provides plant and project files with required documentation.

  • Manages and reports status monthly on safety, budget, schedule, and quality criteria. Meet or exceed client expectations in these areas.

  • Completes Project Capitalization tasks and Lessons Learned. Closes projects promptly.

  • Assists in development of project management work practices and tools.

  • Participates in the evaluation and selection of third party engineering and construction firms as preferred suppliers.

  • Manages multiple proposals.

  • Engineering degree from accredited university required

  • 5+ years experience in project management

  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.

  • Previous experience in Operations / Detailed Design experience preferred

  • PMP a plus

  • Ability to plan and delegate work

  • Ability to facilitate improvements and independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience and proven ability to manage projects with competency in project management tools and techniques such as scope definition, estimating, scheduling / critical path, budgeting, cost control, reporting, design and scope change management.

  • Strong Technical knowledge of process and operation of ASU, Cogen, and/or Hydrogen manufacturing.

  • Ability to read and mark up P&IDs. Ability to perform basic process calculations.

  • Familiarity with National Electrical code, OSHA, Life Safety codes, ASME standards, and CGA documents

  • General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control systems and operation of process equipment utilized in Air Liquide technologies.

  • Ability to understand and interpret applicable specifications and standards.

  • Proficient in utilization of MS Office products, including Excel, Word, and Microsoft Project Software.

  • Proficient in utilization of Google Suite tools, including Sheet, Doc, Slides, etc.

  • Familiarity with vendors and suppliers of process equipment and services.
